Privacy Policy
Location data in plain terms. Geonary accesses and collects your device's precise or approximate location to build your personal map. If you turn on recording and allow background location, this collection continues when the app is closed or not in use. Your location history is stored in private app storage on your device. It is not uploaded to Zamrudila, Firebase Analytics or RevenueCat, and it is not used for advertising. You can stop recording or permanently delete the history in Settings.
1. Who we are
The Geonary app is made and operated by Zamrudila. For any privacy question or request, email hi@zamrudilaapp.com.
2. Location data: access, collection and use
Data accessed and collected. With your permission, Geonary accesses location supplied by your device. Depending on the permission you grant and the fix available from the operating system, this may be precise or approximate location. A recorded sample can include latitude, longitude, date and time, accuracy, speed and travel direction. Geonary also creates routes and map coverage derived from those samples.
When collection happens. Geonary first shows an in-app disclosure and asks for the relevant system permission. It accesses location when showing your current position and when location recording is on. If you enable background recording and grant “Allow all the time” or the equivalent permission, Geonary collects location in the background, including when the app is minimised, closed or otherwise not in use. Recording may resume after a device restart or app update while that setting and permission remain on. Turning recording off or revoking location permission stops further location collection.
How location is used. Location is used only to show your current position and build the personal map, routes and time-based views you see in Geonary. It is not used for advertising, usage analytics, credit decisions or tracking you across other apps or websites.
Where it goes. Raw location samples, saved routes and the resulting location history are written to private app storage on your device. Zamrudila does not receive them and cannot view them. They are not sent to Firebase Analytics or RevenueCat. Section 5 separately explains the network requests used to display background map tiles; those requests do not contain your raw samples or saved routes.
Retention and deletion. Location history remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall Geonary; Geonary does not automatically expire the full history. Use Settings → Data → Delete all location history to permanently erase the saved samples, routes, map coverage and any pending location samples on that device. Uninstalling the app also deletes them. Because Zamrudila has no server copy, we cannot recover deleted history.
3. Other data stored on your device
The following data is stored in Geonary's private storage on your device:
- App settings, such as theme, base map, recording, analytics and reminder choices.
- Locally cached entitlement status indicating whether Geonary Lifetime is available.
Geonary excludes its app data from automatic cloud backups and device-to-device transfer. Settings remain until changed or until the app is uninstalled. Purchase validation is explained in section 6.
4. Usage analytics
Geonary uses Firebase Analytics (a Google service) to understand how the app is used — for example which time ranges people look at most. This helps us decide what to build next. Usage analytics is enabled by default and can be switched off at any time.
What is collected:
- Pseudonymous usage events, such as changing the time range, switching the base map, or deleting your history.
- Standard technical and pseudonymous data processed by the service, including an app installation identifier, device model, operating system and app version, language, and an approximate country or region derived from your IP address.
What is not sent in analytics: no device coordinate, place, route, address, map viewport, or information about how much location history you have. The approximate country or region Google may derive from the network IP address is not a location sample from Geonary. Geonary shows no ads, does not ask for your advertising identifier, does not track you across other apps or websites, and does not use crash reporting.
You can turn it off. Open Settings → Privacy → Usage analytics and switch it off. Collection stops immediately and stays off. This does not delete analytics already collected. To request deletion of analytics associated with your app installation, email hi@zamrudilaapp.com. We will process a verifiable request within 30 days, subject to data that Google must retain for security or legal reasons under its own policy.
5. Map display requests
The background map is drawn from tiles fetched from a third-party provider, Esri / ArcGIS, using data that includes OpenStreetMap contributions. As with loading a web page, Esri receives your IP address and the identifiers of the map tiles requested. Those identifiers describe the area you are viewing and may reveal an approximate map area, including the area around your current position when the map is centred there. Esri does not receive your raw location samples, saved routes, full location history or an account identifier from Geonary. These requests are used only to deliver the map you view.
6. Purchases
Geonary Lifetime is sold through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Payment details and refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies. Geonary also uses RevenueCat to load the offer, validate the store transaction and restore access.
RevenueCat receives a randomly generated anonymous app-user identifier, app and device information needed to operate its SDK, and purchase, receipt and entitlement information. Geonary does not give RevenueCat your name, email address, advertising identifier or location history, and we do not see your full payment-card or bank details. Purchase records are retained as needed to provide and restore Lifetime access, comply with financial/legal obligations, prevent fraud and resolve disputes. Store and RevenueCat records are governed by their respective retention and deletion requirements.
7. Sharing and service providers
- Google (Firebase Analytics) — pseudonymous usage analytics and related technical data described in section 4.
- Esri / ArcGIS — IP address and requested map tile areas needed to display the map, as described in section 5.
- RevenueCat — anonymous purchase identity and store transaction/entitlement data described in section 6.
- Apple App Store and Google Play — distribution, payment and app updates.
We do not sell or rent personal or sensitive user data, and we do not share it for advertising. We may disclose limited data if required by law, to protect users or the service, or in connection with a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards. Providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States, under the safeguards and transfer mechanisms in their own policies.

8. Security
On-device data is kept in the operating system's private app sandbox, and Geonary excludes it from cloud backup and device transfer. Network communication with the providers listed above uses encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections. Access to production services is restricted. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure, so you should also protect access to your device.
9. Your choices and rights
You can deny or revoke location permission in system settings, stop recording in Geonary, delete all location history in the app, turn off usage analytics, or uninstall the app. Detailed deletion steps are on the support page.
Where data protection law such as the GDPR or Türkiye's KVKK applies, you may have rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability and objection in respect of data processed outside your device. Email hi@zamrudilaapp.com and we will respond within the period the law requires.
If you contact support, we use the contact details and message you provide only to respond, investigate the issue, protect the service and meet legal obligations. Please do not send location coordinates or map screenshots. Support correspondence is deleted when it is no longer needed for those purposes, subject to legal recordkeeping requirements.
10. Children
Geonary is not directed at children and is not intended for anyone under 13, or under the higher minimum age that applies in your country. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
11. Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of the page, and a change that materially reduces the protections described here will be announced in the app before it takes effect.
